Step 1
Record the approximate louver width and note whether the louvers are uniform. Avoid relying on a single visible slat if the panel has decorative or specialty sections.
Step 2
Count panels, record each panel’s height and width, and note frame depth, hinge side, handle position and panel swing.
Step 3
Photograph and measure the space near the tilt control, adjacent trim and behind the open panel. These dimensions can determine whether a retrofit device has a safe mounting area.
